Report from Economic Dialouge at Embassy of Uzbekistan

This past week the team at Caspian European Economic Forum was invited to an exclusive meeting at the Embassy of Uzbekistan to discuss potential business opportunities and cooperation.

The meeting consisted of diplomats, Uzbek government officials, and business and financial partners from Germany and across Central Asia.

The Uzbek Ambassador to Germany, Dilshod Akhatov, in his opening remarks. Reflected upon the positive growth of Uzbekistan and what makes the country attractive to investors: Ambassador Akhatvo cited a period of growth in Uzbekistan noting a 6% growth in GDP in 2025, Uzbekistan possesses the largest population in the Central Asia region as well as the country having a plethora of Natural Resources including cotton, natural gas, oil, minerals and natural stones. His comments were further confirmed with the recent February publication of the Uzbek trade magazine: Uzbekistan Invest Now. Uzbekistan is slowly becoming a center for foreign investment with over 32 billion US dollars worth of investments being completed in 2025 and the number only set to grow for 2026.

Focus on Kashkadarya

Following the ambassador’s comments, the attention of the meeting shifted towards the central region of Kashkadarya in Uzbekistan. A mountainous region which is one of the largest supplies of oil and natural gas in the country. The deputy mayor or deputy hokim, Karayev Zafar Zakirovich for the capital city of the region, Qarashi, presented on the developments within the region and on the variety of projects that are seeking investment. These projects ranged from mining developments, hospitality, advancements in industrialization or green technology, as well as multiple projects dealing with Kashkadarya’s agricultural industry. The opportunities were presented as being vast and diverse with over 25 potential projects being mentioned in total

Germany as a Partner

In searching for partners for these projects, Uzbekistan remains particularly eager for German investment. Mirizyod Yunusov, in an interview for Uzbekistan Invest Now notes that “Germany is traditionally one of the most important technology partners for Uzbekistan in regards to the modernization of Uzbek industry and the introduction of modern technical solutions” The rapid growth coupled with the growing need for high tech industrial technology shows just one of the many ways in which Europe and Uzbekistan can partner with each other. Following the presentation, a networking event ensued where CEEF was able to further discuss plans for investment in the Kaskadarya region and the country more generally. The CEEF has multiple follow-up meetings planned in the coming weeks and days with both German and Uzbek partners to ensure concrete action is taken to find suitable partners for potential investment.

The embassy’s next event is scheduled to be in April and will focus heavily on the topic of education with topics set to include exchange programs, dual study programs, as well as professional training for specific fields. The CEEF has already received an invitation to the event and is looking forward to a productive meeting.
